Inventio Section Co-Editors Kairos Position Announcement (2024)

Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology, and Pedagogy is seeking applications for Inventio Section Co-Editors. We have two immediate openings for the position of Inventio Section Co-Editors at Kairos, a refereed online journal exploring the intersections of rhetoric, technology, and pedagogy. Inventio is a peer-reviewed section focusing on the decisions, contexts, and contributions that authors make while designing a webtext. Recent Inventio webtexts present multimodal scholarship on digital dance performance, weaving and Indigenous sovereignties, podcasting a Creative-Commons licensed textbook, and composing with proprietary authoring platforms.

Both editorial positions are volunteer and require 3–5 hours/week of work on average. Benefits include insight into the unique collaborative editorial workflows of a leading international scholarly journal, a stronger sense of disciplinary community, editorial pride, work that counts as either service or research or both (depending on your institution), professional development opportunities for potential advancement through the editorial ranks, beverages of your choice at f2f conferences, and a letter of recommendation or tenure letter.

Kairos’s Inclusivity Action Plan and most recent DEI Committee Annual Report show how the journal works to value difference, equity, and inclusion in all its processes. Candidates from underrepresented backgrounds as well as those who want to conduct research and/or teaching related to this position’s responsibilities are especially encouraged to apply.

Duties

Successful candidates will work relatively independently with their Inventio co-editor (with training and guidance from the journal's senior editorial team) to produce production-ready webtexts with authors for the spring and fall issues of Kairos. Duties include:
