Web Page Proposal Assignment Event

Speakeasy Event: The Group Web Page
Proposal  0

        Begins: 10/25/99 12:00:01 AM
        Ends: 11/2/00 12:00:01 AM
        Status: Active
Café Tables Currently Associated with This Event: 9
This is an Active Event happening now at the Speakeasy
Café; visit the Café to participate in this event's tables.

Event Description:

Each group in the VTT project will have its own table in this
event. Ultimately, this is where the group proposals for web sites
will be posted. However, this space is also for the group to use
for suggesting ideas, working through questions, chatting, posting
drafts, etc. Groups can also look here for feedback from other
     students as the proposal develops.

Since only one proposal will be posted by each group, it's
important for all group members to discuss what the proposal
will be beforehand. Circulate your answers to the questions
below in the Studio, chatroom, and/or email. The resulting
proposal should contain as much detail as possible and be
written in clear prose. It should address the following questions:

What is the topic of your web site? Try to define it more
narrowly than just the movie title, decade, or century focus
     you're starting with.

What is the audience you'll expect? Think about who would find
     this site interesting and/or useful.

What is the site's purpose? In other words, how will visitors
benefit from your site? What will be significant or important
     about it?

What exactly will it contain? Think about the type of information
and analysis you'll do, as well as sources you'll draw on.

     How will it be organized?

What information might be best conveyed by pictures or other
images? (Be aware of copyright laws!)

What types of related web sites might be useful to link from your
     site?

(Our group is meeting tonight at 8:20 and this is what we came up with.)

Our main topic for this web page is a focus on the arts and music of the twentieth century.

Our target audience for this web page is artists and musicians; however, we want to make it accessible to anyone that is interested in arts and music. This includes not only the professionals but the amateurs and students.

They may learn the history of both art and music while also being able to compare or contrast the decades different styles. It is original and will be easily accessible.

Our site will contain a time line with links to each decade; contained on the decade pages will be specific information pertaining to the era. We are planning a trip to the St. Louis Art Museum and we can use the on campus music library as references.

Like we previously said, we are using a timeline where the dates will be links to other pages for each decade.

Pictures of art and bytes of music will be used on our site. We will discuss with our professors about the copyright laws in class.

On the previous table, we have posted a list of related sites. (this was a product of an earlier assignment) We are still looking for other related sites.

*** Walking Through 'Dances With Wolves' ***

This page will enable the reader to guide the main character of the movie, Dances With Wolves, through the movie itself. It
will act like a fun and educational trip through the movie. The reader can choose the paths that either lead them through the movie or perhaps to the character's death. The reader will be advised to and may be able to return and perform the last part correctly. Afterwards, or at the beginning if the reader so chooses, he or she may go to a short one or two pages with a more serious approach to the theme of the movie.

Sect 1:

This will be the beginning of the movie, consisting of several pages that lead the main character to the Indians.

Sect 2:

This part will be when he is forced to live with the Indians, in which the reader will be instructed to make certain crucial decisions.

Sect 3:

This last portion of the walkthrough will of course tie up the movie and lead the user into the more serious study of the movie.

Sect 4:

Here will be the more serious explanation of the movie.

Other - Annotated Bib, Interviews, etc:

none
